Mount Rainier Real Estate Area Information - Crystal Mountain Ski Resort

If you are considering purchasing property - a cabin or mountain home - in this area, most people are surprised at what they can find in the area around Mount Rainier. Real estate offerings do not exist in a national park area, of course, but in its periphery we have Crystal Mountain and Greenwater with several hundred wonderful mountain cabins and homes dotted around the hills and valleys - some on the banks of the rushing White River making its way down from the mountain, and the lazy Greenwater River further downhill.

Living in this wonderful area of the Pacific Northwest, we are fortunate to have two of the most popular outdoor recreational facilities right here on our doorstep: Crystal Mountain Ski Resort and Mount Rainier National Park.

Cabin, mountain home and vacation property owners can enjoy the year-round wonder that either of these areas exude.

Crystal Mountain Resort:

Crystal Mountain is rated in the nation's top 20 for downhill skiing. The Master Plan is now approved. Get ready to watch Crystal grow and be part of the action. 

Crystal Mountain Resort will soon start the most significant upgrades that have taken place since opening in 1963. The United States Forest Service (USFS) has passed the Master Plan which permits improvements to begin. An  80-person “Tram” from the base area to the Summit House is scheduled to be started in  2006. 

Views of  Mt. Rainier from Crystal Mountain’s summit are absolutely spectacular.

Mount Rainier National Park:

Mt. Rainier National Park is a national treasury of scenic beauty and one this areas most notable attractions for NW  residents and world travelers.

There are several drive-in entrances and charges are $15 per car for a seven-day pass. You can visit multiple times on the same pass. 

The Park:
Mount Rainier National Park -  established on 02 March 1899, contains vast expanses of pristine old-growth forests, sub-alpine flower meadows, spectacular alpine scenery, and great opportunity for stimulating outdoor activities. Mount Rainier National Park is the fifth oldest national park in the United States. The park has the greatest single-peak glacial system in the United States. Glaciers radiate from the summit and slopes of the 14,411 foot volcano.

Wildlife:
The seasons and elevation play a big role in determining where you may best find wildlife. In summer, chipmunks, chickarees, ground squirrels, marmots, and pika are commonly seen mammals. Clark's nutcrackers, gray jays, Steller's jays, and ravens are commonly seen birds. Deer are frequently seen, but black bear, elk, and mountain goats are more elusive. Look for elk on the east side of the park in September. The color of black bear may be brown, tan or blond, and to see one is a rare treat. Mountain goats stay close to the high country cliffs
